Seisho Bypass

Running along Sagami Bay near Odawara, the Seisho Bypass is a long coastal stretch where the road and the shoreline breathe together. In the hour when night and morning exist at the same time, the underside of the sky turns faint blue, amber dawn spreads over the water, and a single horizon is drawn across the whole world. The smell of brine slips through the window; the waves answer the engine. It is the calm, strong straight before the road lifts toward the mountains.
