With the warmth of morning still in my fingertips, I press engine start, and two heartbeats layer over Hakone's dawn. The higher we climb National Route 1, the white of steam slips behind and the blue of Lake Ashinoko kicks my chest's metronome half a beat ahead. Through the gate and onto the Ashinoko Skyline, the broken shoulder lines turn to notes I sing with my right foot. A high-speed eurobeat ride that stitches the morning's shift from white to transparent to blue into one lap around the lake.
